New Zealand Business Women's Network announces new board
Our first board will build on our mission to learn, connect and inspire Kiwi women.
The New Zealand Business Women’s Network (NZBWN) is excited to announce its first working board, bringing together a group of successful Kiwi women. Following 11 years of connecting Kiwis predominately in London and more recently in New Zealand, the board aims to continue to deepen and grow its membership in the UK, New Zealand and across the world.
Founder Bronwen Horton’s vision to bring together likeminded Kiwi women in the middle of the financial crisis, has resulted in thousands of career-minded women benefiting from our network.
Bronwen said: “Our membership is built on a network of over 2,000 members and volunteers who are committed to learning, connecting and inspiring each other. Whether that be through small or large events, mentoring, workshops or training, the magic of our network is that we bring together likeminded Kiwi women giving them a taste of home, while on the opposite side of the world."
“We launched against the odds in the middle of the financial crisis, and to top it off on the night of our launch we were faced with a tube strike and heavy rain, but that didn’t stop 50 women from turning up to support us. Who would have believed we’d now be faced launching our board in the middle of a pandemic! But with that same number 8 wire mentality and the strength of the women behind us, I can only see it as a good sign.”
Following a successful launch event in November 2019, where we had over 100 people participate in a discussion around how boards operate, the network received 55 applications for eight roles. The board is giving Kiwi women the opportunity to have their first board role. They will each have a mentor as part of our ambition to help board members to develop their careers and take on further board roles.
