Kick-Starting 2015

Written by The NZBWN Team.

Have you set any New Year’s resolutions or goals for 2015? Maybe you have some big dreams you would like to achieve? Or maybe you need a dose of inspiration to help create the year you want?

Come along and hear from a panel of inspiring women who have recently achieved some amazing personal goals or dreams or have set themselves some big goals for 2015.

NZ TV Presenter Hilary Timmins will be sharing a very special project she is creating.

About Hilary & Dream Catchers

Hilary TimminsDream Catchers is the launch of a series about successful New Zealanders in the UK and the reciprocal benefits to NZ and their adopted home. Starting in the UK the series will eventually spread to include North America, Europe and Asia. Aspirational and inspirational, it's a celebration of our tall poppies and the series is designed to show all New Zealanders we can dream as big as we want to.

Dream Catchers will be brought to fruition by well-known TV personality Hilary Timmins. Hilary first appeared on New Zealand Television in 1986 – after studying English literature and ancient history at Auckland University coupled with a busy modelling career – when she began her co-hosting role of the iconic NZ game show, “It’s In The Bag”. In 1992, Hilary began her long association with the New Zealand Lotto; a relationship that continued until 2008 when she left to travel abroad. Meeting a number of inspiring Kiwis here in London inspired Hilary to share their stories to help inspire the next generation in NZ so that they know anything is possible.

Hilary will also be joined by a panel of women from our Network who will share their inspiring stories and how they’ve achieved their dreams and personal challenges.

Our first Panelist is Genevieve Corich van der Bas is one of our youngest members of the Network.

About Genevieve

alt19 year old kiwi Genevieve recently completed first year studies in Geography & Business at Auckland University after 8 years in the UK. Concurrent with her studies Genevieve is Project Director - Music Selection for the Les Mills international High Intensity Training series - GRIT.

Genevieve's philosophy is to grab every challenge and opportunity in life. While still UK based, she was part of a film crew working with top European Entrepreneurs creating company videos of country winners in the European Business Awards.

Genevieve recently returned from an aid mission to the Island of Panay in the central Visayas region of the Philippines. While there to help rebuild Carles village which 1 year on was still suffering from the devastation of Typhoon Haiyan, Genevieve and her team were evacuated as Super Typhhon Hagupit bore down on the islands threatening a similar trail of destruction. Thankfully this largest peacetime evacuation led by the Philippines government meant that the death toll was minimised. However emergency food and medial supplies were urgently needed and Genevieve returned immediately to the village.

Genevieve will share the story of living on the edge, and her insights on the importance of humanitarian work in regions where daily living challenges entire villages.

More panellists will be released early next week.

Our evening will begin with a welcome drink of NZ Wine and nibbles and the chance to meet with other women from the Network. We’ll then here from Hilary and our panel of inspiring women with the opportunity to finish off the evening catching up and making new connections.
