To kick start your festive season and to experience a hidden gem in Mayfair owned by New Zealander Russell Cameron please join us for a truly magical Christmas event and be inspired by Marilyn as she reflects on ‘The Business of International Development Assistance: my work in 2011’.

Introducing Marilyn

_MG_0456Dr Marilyn Waring is known internationally for her groundbreaking work in political economy, development assistance and human rights, and for her classic work,Counting for Nothing - what men value and what women are worth.

In New Zealand she is a distinguished public intellectual, a leading feminist thinker, and an environmentalist. She served 3 terms in New Zealand’s parliament after election at the age of twenty-three. Professor Waring works in the Institute of Public Policy at AUT University, focusing on the supervision of post graduate theses.

She has been a Member of the Board of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand, the Councils of Creative New Zealand and Massey University, the QEII National Trust and the Institute of Judicial Studies. She is currently a member of the Boards of the Association of Women in Development (AWID) and the Canadian Index of Well Being.

She is passing through London on her way to Glasgow, where she is to receive an Honorary Doctorate for her contribution to 'International Feminism and Female Human Rights'.

 

NZBWN Founder Bronwen Horton Officially Makes A World Of Difference

Bronwen Horton - Award Winning WomanCongratulations to Bronwen, founder of the New Zealand Business Women’s Network – she has been recognised by The International Alliance for Women (TIAW) as a 2011 TIAW World of Difference 100 Award winner.

The award recognises individuals whose efforts have advanced the economic empowerment of women locally, regionally or worldwide. Nominations were received from around the globe, and the award winners are the individuals that embody the TIAW motto: “Connecting to Make all the Difference in the World” in women’s economic empowerment.

Bronwen is one of two New Zealanders to be recognised by The International Alliance for Women in 2011, and was nominated under the Corporate (Individual Women) category by Christina Ioannidis, Founder and sponsor of www.aquitude.com.

Bronwen is travelling to Washington DC to receive her award at at the World of Difference Awards Dinner being held October 27, 2011 as part of the TIAW Global Forum at the Canadian Embassy in Washington, DC.

Bronwen, you have made a difference to many of our lives and you absolutely deserve this recognition. Thank you for everything you do, all the ideas, introductions and support, and congratulations again.
