Report: Kiwi Media Mafia

Written by Katherine MacGregor. Posted in News.

Media Mafia CrowdThere’s usually a buzzing (and somewhat loud!) excitement when you get a group of motivated Kiwi women in a room together. The night of Tuesday 17 September was no different. 100 women came together at London’s Hospital Club to hear success stories from New Zealanders who have made their name in Britain’s media industry.

Interviewed by media consultant Linda Rose, 11 women gave insights into the highs and lows of working in the UK, all with exciting and positive stories to tell. Some were former print journalists who had seen the industry change remarkably, others worked on the production side and we heard fascinating accounts from women who had covered the Mumbai terror attacks and first hand of being live on air when Saddam Hussein was caught.

Coffee and Cake Series 2013Over two days in late September and early October the New Zealand Business Women's Network is holding a couple of coffee and cake appreciation events.

On September 29th 'Ginger and White' (Belsize Park) will serve us coffees, teas, and delicious cake along with a short talk from Emma, one of the owners, about her business and setting up Ginger & White. Ticket includes 2 hot drinks (tea/coffee) and a piece of cake for £10.

On the 5th October we will converge on Caravan at Kings Cross for an Intro to their coffee school, a brief intro to roasting/making and appreciating coffee. Plus you get 2 coffees and a pastry included for £12.

We have very limited places for both events... do not hesitate, book ASAP to confirm your place.

October Monthly Monday Meetup

Written by The NZBWN Team. Posted in Latest.

October Monthly Monday MeetupOnce a month we hold a 'Monthly Monday Meetup' to help newcomers to the UK, and/or for folk who want a slightly more low key intro to the network meet a few of our event organisers.

That's not to say we don't want some of you who have been to events before, quite the contrary, if you wish to reconnect, please come on down to Sacred Cafe in Ganton Street (off Carnaby), it's nice to have a mix.

We ask you do register/RSVP via this link. It's just so we can pre-warn Sacred of the impeding arrival of stampeding Kiwis looking for treats/cakes and a real coffee!

It's completely free but we do tend to *ahem* indulge in a coffee and potentially a cake at our own expenses.

Usually we get the full downstairs section to ourselves - so grab yourself a coffee and perhaps a piece of Lolly cake (they do L&P and savoury muffins too) and come on down.
